In Alzheimer's disease, deposits referred to as amyloid plaques form in the brain due to the accumulation of certain aggregates. Studies evaluating the use of curcumin as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease found that curcumin did successfully inhibit the formation of the aggregates responsible for the formation of amyloid plaques.

Curcumin can also be found in extracts that can be used for dietary supplements and can be obtained without the need for any prescription.
